Muffin Top Pants
Do you want to get rid of your muffin top?
The term ‘muffin top’ became popular in the last decade to describe the very unflattering appearance of a spare tire overflowing ones waistband. Muffin tops are not limited to tight jeans, to men or to women. Muffin tops happen when the waistband can not contain what is supposed to stay inside the apparel.
Muffin tops occur most frequently above slacks because there is no where else for the body to go when the body exceeds the bounds of the fabric. The tighter the slacks, the bigger the muffin top.
I don’t remember this being a problem for me thirty years ago but recently, no matter what kind of fabric, my muffin runneth over. I’ve tried bigger slacks and unless I use a belt, I spend the day hiking up my pants. If I use a belt, I still end up with the muffin top effect.
I’m just too ‘squishy’ these days. It’s just that simple. The lack of a ‘hard body’ results in the muffin top effect every time.
It’s not that I’m surrendering and accepting my soft, squishy, excess body fat but I want to be able to dress in more flattering styles without looking like I am wearing a tent to hide the parts I don’t like. As a woman working in a professional environment, I believe the better I feel about my appearance, the better I will feel about staying competitive in an increasingly youthful atmosphere.
Bend Over Pants
My answer to eliminating the ‘muffin top’ effect was found in a brand of slacks known as Bend Over Pants.
I found this brand of slacks in a rainbow of colors, a variety of fabric types and a very broad set of sizes at Blair.com. The secret for me was the higher waistband. Instead of a low rise waistband, the higher rise sits comfortably at my natural waist – no more muffin top.
