Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerant

Have you been diagnosed with Celiac Disease or do you have the symptoms of gluten intolerance? The first thing you need to do is see your doctor, describe your symptoms and get an accurate diagnosis.  Don’t try to self-diagnose or self-medicate.  You might be missing a different problem or maybe over diagnosing yourself!

Don’t guess!  Get the facts!

Testing for Celiac Disease and gluten intolerance has made many advances over the years.  It’s easier to diagnose and easier to treat due to the increase in awareness of the condition.

See your doctor!

While you’re waiting for a diagnosis…

Prepared gluten free foods have sprouted up across the county in most major food chains but… not all are created with both your taste buds and your wallet in mind.  Gluten free products are typically dry and terribly tasteless with a very grainy texture.  Even a loaf of freshly baked, gluten free bread tastes like eating yesterday stale toast.

If you want to try some gluten free foods, here are the products we tried and can honestly say we enjoyed eating:

Glutino Gluten Free Pretzel Sticks –   We couldn’t  tell the difference from ordinary pretzel sticks.

Schar Brand Pasta – All the gluten free, wheat free pastas we tried from Schar cooked up as good as ordinary pastas and in the same amount of time.  They were easy to store for adding sauces and using in other recipes.  No heavy starchy taste like some rice pastas.

Schar Brand Cookies and Crackers –   Another winner for their gluten free Shortbread Cookies and Cheesy Crackers.

Schar Brand Table Bread – While it’s not going to give Grandpa a run for his recipe, this is by far the best of the white bread loaves we tried.

Tastykake Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies – You won’t miss the ordinary ones!

Glenny’s Gluten Free Oatmeal Cookies – The best oatmeal cookie you will ever eat!  Ever!
